Basketball Tips to Improve Your Game
Basketball is one of my favorite hobbies. Ever since I was a little kid I spent every waking second practicing. My dream when I was very young was to play in the N.B.A. someday. After spending a lot of time practicing and learning from different coaches I realized some important fundamental tips that I wanted to share with all of you that have big dreams like I did.
TIPS:
1) Dribbling: One important thing you should know when practicing your dribbling is to keep you eyes up and not on the ball. Keeping your eyes up is important because you will be able to see what’s happening on the floor and where your teammates are. When dribbling don’t push the ball down with your hand use your fingertips. Using your fingertips helps you control the ball better.
2) Shooting: First of all there are two basic types of shooting techniques. The first one is layups; the other one is jump shooting. When shooting a layup its important to use the correct hand for whichever side you are shooting on. Make sure to keep your focus on the square on the backboard. When stepping up for a jump shot make sure to keep your feet planted firmly and pointed strait at the rim. When taking a jump shot you want to keep your elbow in and strait. Try shooting as one motion. Explode off your legs and up and out through you’re shooting hand and make sure to add a lot of backspin on the release.
3) Passing: Passing is a very important aspect of the game. It’s important to get the bass into the hands of the other player. By getting the ball to the other players hands it allows them to make a move faster or shoot the ball before the opponent can guard them. Passing is a very important fundamental of the game that gets overlooked by many players.
4) Rebounding: Rebounding is a huge part of the basketball game. When done right and you out rebound the other team you have a very high chance of winning. When rebounding one should have the attitude that every loose ball is theirs. While rebounding you should always box out the other player in order to get the best position where ever the ball goes.
