The nation’s Hockey League was established in 1917 and since then there have been four major eras of the NHL ; the Founding, the first six, the expansion era and the Modern age.

In 1967 the NHL doubled in size by adding six new growth groups, so ending the age of the first 6. This growth was partially because of the threat posed by the World Hockey organization, which competed with the NHL for markets and players.

The first 6 is a phrase used to describe the six teams that made up the national Hockey League during the Original 6 time, the twenty five year time frame between the 1942-43 season and NHL enlargement in 1967. The original six teams of the NHL are the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and the Montreal Canadiens.

In 1967, with the world economy and political climate steadier than in decades previous, 6 further expansion groups joined the nation’s Hockey League, bringing the team total up to twelve and ushering in an age for the NHL called the growth era.

The basic wants for draft are comparatively easy ; the beginner must reach their 17th birthday before the Aug before the draft, to be placed in the pool for that imminent year. If they don’t meet this duty, they’re going to be placed back into the system to which they came from and must wait for the following draft.

The system was developed by a sir Clarence Campbell and it went as the following, the last place team at the end of the season will be allowed to make the first pick from the pool, and the chain will work its way up to the top seeded team in the league. The 4th time of the NHL is the Modern Time. This age started in 1993 and is still continuing today.
