The Race To The NBA Finals In The Eastern Conference
If you follow basketball, you know that this year’s season, up to this point, has been nothing short of awesome! Many of the teams that are always at the top of the standings have now become somewhat vulnerable and lots of the newer teams are making themselves known as worthy contenders. This means that the postseason cannot be predicted, thus the answer to just who is going to end up at the top is not known.
As far as the Western Conference goes, it is the Lakers who appear to be destined to win; but, keep in mind that during the playoffs you just can’t predict what will happen. The Eastern Conference is heating up and will definitely be closely watched.
Are you wondering just what Eastern teams are going to go all the way to the NBA finals? Let’s talk about the three teams that have the best chance of doing this.
The first team is Orlando, who is only seven games behind Cleveland and, thus, in 2nd place overall in the Eastern Conference. They made it all the way to the finals just last season and have a very good chance of doing that again this season.
The problem with Orlando this year is that they simply don’t seem to be playing with the same vigor that they played with last year. Orlando has some time to turn things around, but it needs to start now.
Next we have Boston, the team that has two key players, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, who are dealing with injuries this season and, thus, are not 100 percent. There is also a rumor going around that Ray Allen might be traded. So, these injuries and the possible trade will indeed affect this team’s performance. This team, just two seasons ago, made it all the way and came away with the NBA title.
Lastly, the Cleveland Cavs have finally emerged and look to be playing their best basketball of the season. While they got off to a slow start, it looks like they’ve finally adjusted to the presence of Shaquille O’Neal in their lineup and they clearly look like the best in the East now. The challenge here will be breaking through in the playoffs and beating the Boston and Orlando teams that shut them down during each of the last two years.
