The Golf Swing Path
Here are the motions of a full golf swing path from beginning to actual ball impact
Phase 1: You can use these guidelines in your golf swing drills Make sure you are in line with the flag in a perfect straight line. Be sure that there are no pebbles, twigs or anything that may alter your shot and take the ball of it’s desired path. Put yourself directly parallel to the line as this is very crucial to beginning the perfect golf swing with the optimal chance of success. If you happen to not follow these guidelines you can really harm you shot.
Phase 2: Place your hands in the correct positioning. Rest the head of the golf club close to the ball’s backside as close as possible with out moving the ball. You also want to hold the club with your left hand having it go right over the top of your fingers. This is the standard way although there are many that prefer using the right hand. Hold the golf club in its place so that there is virtually no movement. However be sure to keep a relaxed handle on the club do not keep a super tight grip as this will cause unwanted movement and shaking.
Phase 3: While having it in the correct position with your left hand prepare your right hand placement. Hold the club using your right hand slight ahead of the left thumb to begin the correct golf swing path.
Phase 4: Finding the correct golf swing grip for you. When dealing with golf swing drills this phase is very important as using an uncomfortable grip will spell disaster. Try to find a your style but a grip called the “overlapping grip” is the one that is most commonly favored. It is basically putting you right pinky finger right in the middle of your left hand’s pointer and middle fingers. I do not know about you guys but I prefer the interlocking grip. This is where your right pinky and your left pointer are locked with one another. This is the the style that is used for those who have medium to small sized hands. If you have quite smaller hands than what may be a good fit is the “baseball bat” style golf swing grip.
Phase 5: Standing Correctly
Now what we want to accomplish with our stance is having complete leverage before we swing the golf swing path.
Stand shoulder width apart with your whole body parallel to the direction of your swing. Put your right foot forward about one foot from your body. Being in this position gives you a great way to use your weight to drive your momentum into the swing. Next pivot your left foot towards the outside so you can allow your body to naturally guide itself in swing form. Arch your torso forward just a tad. A huge mistake that I make and I’m still working on this is over leaning(Yes I’m still learning too..). It is very easy to just bend forward but try to resist. Next your legs should be slightly bent and your hands straight in front of you elbows locked but relaxed. Place about a good amount of your weight on the balls of your feet.
Phase 6: Starting the actual swing. The whole thing that you want to think about here is full body rotation. No need to place emphasis on the arms as they will go along for the ride so what you should be mindful of is using you upper body as a whole and turning. Keep your body loose and do not tighten up so this can be a fluid movement.
Use this rotation for all back golf swing techniques. At this point all parts of your body move coordinated and in unison.
Then you push the down swing by shifting your weight to your left foot. As this is happening the arms will be guided to hit the ball and then follow through throughout the entire golf swing release.
Use this quick golf swing guide and it will enable you to achieve a correct golf swing path.
